Academic Development

Academic Expectations

Each semester, AUBiH students attend lectures and complete individual and group tasks. Quizzes, tests, and exams are regularly administered. Based on an individual’s performance in the classroom and the completion of assigned tasks, students receive a grade for each course which they have taken in a given semester. Students who have failed courses have the option of continuing at AUBiH. However, students must retake the course which they failed the previous semester either via an AUBiH on-line course or through the SUNY learning network.

Conferences and Seminars

Throughout the academic year AUBiH invites experts from politics and the civil sector to give presentations at the university. These presentations benefit both the presenter and the students. The students gain first-hand information about national and international affairs and the presenters have an opportunity to interact with educated young people who will be the future leaders of BiH.

Peer Tutoring Program

Each college of AUBiH has a network of tutors who are trained to help students succeed in their studies. The tutors are students who have excelled in the very courses for which students require help – from introductory economics to calculus. Working as a tutor is one of the most rewarding of all our work study positions – and among the most coveted.

English Language Program

The language of instruction at AUBiH is English. English is the language of commerce and politics in a globalized world. Through mastery of the English language, graduates of the university are fully prepared for a career in BiH and beyond. AUBiH is committed to preparing you for success by sponsoring free English as a Second Language (ESL) courses for both current and prospective students.
Two different types of English courses are currently offered at AUBiH. The first is an obligatory course for students who have passed the AUBiH entrance exam and are officially matriculated as AUBiH students. This course helps students improve their command of the English language and equips them with the language tools necessary for success in an academic setting. Topics covered in this course include English grammar, verbal and written expression, and essay composition. This obligatory English course is offered free of charge in the summer prior to a student’s first semester at AUBiH.
AUBiH regularly offers free, one month intensive English-language courses for interested students. This course may be taken by any AUBiH student, but is especially intended for prospective students who anticipate enrollment at AUBiH in the upcoming academic year. Currently three intensive English courses are offered each year.
