Record and Registration
The first step in achieving the American dream is the contact with the service for record and registration of the American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which leads the process of enrollment to undergraduate study at all faculties / schools in AUBiH.
With the enrollement at AUBiH, you will get the document called INDEX (document of Bosnia and Herzegovina for higher education), and thus officially starts your studying at AUBIH ... that will allow you University experience, personal growth, development, and more clearly define life goals, create future visions and a better cultural understanding . You made the right step, because education is the best investment, the value that no one can take away from you.
In the service for record and registration you can get:
- All information about the mode of education, benefits, financial benefits, student loans and documentation needed for registration.
- Help with filling out applications and completion of documents for registration.
- Entrance exam and information about the results and eventual entrance exam for the second time.
Since the AUBiH accepts applications from potential students all over the world, the conditions of admission to AUBiH are flexible enough to accept the characteristics of different systems of secondary education. Applicants are required to choose one of the following options for registration:
- Presentation of documentation that proves successful completion of secondary education in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- Adherence to standards for admission to universities in the U.S.: the presentation of complete secondary school certificates and results of SAT I or ACT.
- Submission of proof of having passed the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the submission of academic certificates and final IB grades. Applicants who did not take all the IB exams should present their last certificates and predicted IB results. If admitted, students will be asked to forward their final IB results to the Office for registration, as soon as it becomes available.
- Meeting the requirements for enrollment to university in the country where student completed his/ her high schooleducation. (For more information contact the Office for registration).
Applications for registration can be submitted during the period from April to September for the upcoming academic year.
Transfer of Students
Students can be considered for transfer to AUBiH after successful completion of at least one academic year at an accredited college or university. AUBiH may allow the recognition of credits for the exams that have been attended at the university level. To enter into consideration for admission, and that your loans were considered in the transition to AUBiH, you must submit, along with a standard application, the following documents:
- Official transcript (s) sent directly from colleges / universities where the courses have been attended;
- Extended Curriculum , with descriptions of items from college / university, individually for each subject.
Note: Transcripts from an accredited university outside the U.S. must be submitted for assessment before a decision about the transition is made.
VISIT AND STUDYING OF FOREIGN STUDENTS
Students who would like to spend one or two semesters at AUBiH, before returning to their home universities, are welcome to apply for a visiting student status. Decision about those students are based on their current academic record. To enter into consideration for the status of visiting student, you must complete the application documents and request the office of your university registration to forward official transcripts to AUBiH. Applications for the visiting students apply only to regular students.
Lecture in the AUBiH the English language. If your first language is not English, you must show proof of your ability to study in English, and submit one of the following evidence:

Students who do not give one of these evidences, but who meet all other requirements for registration, are required to pass an English exam before the semester starts, for classification in English as a Second Language (ESL) courses.
Enrollment procedures
- Meet the written or electronic format of enrollment form.
- Submit the following documents: (Please mark each document with its name and surname. The documentation that is not submitted during registration must be submitted within 15 days after the beginning of the semester.)
- Certificate of completed high school (for each school year),
- high school diploma (see General Conditions for enrollment)
- Evidence of ability to study in English (see Languages);
- birth certificate,
- medical certificate,
- two photos.
NOTICE OF ADMISSION
After receiving the completed application and supporting documentation, the Commission will consider application. If decision about confirmation is affirmative, the Office for admission will send you an official notification of a successful reception. Offer for subscription is valid for the current enrollment period. If you want to postpone your application or admission to another semester, a written request must be submitted to the Office for admission.
University generally approves the registration of new students on a trial basis. To complete registration, student is required to submit a final transcript after graduation. When you arrive at college, we recommend you start with looking for accommodation and organizing travel arrangements.
