Faculty positions in the academic year 2009/2010

Academic Department

American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AUBiH), initiated a campaign of hiring faculty members in the academic year 2009/2010 (please follow the link: Job Openings). The initial results of student admission in all of our colleges in Sarajevo and Tuzla, and the College of International Law in Banja Luka, which welcomes its first generation of students this year (please follow the link: Colleges), indicate that the total number of students enrolling this year will exceed the planned number of students. The sudden expansion concerning the number of students demands a speedy adjustment so that we can maintain the high quality of the classes taught exclusively by US professors. It is for those reasons that the AUBiH Academic Department has indicated the need for a larger number of faculty members, resulting in the formal decision on initiating the campaign oriented towards the US labor market.

In addition to excellent working conditions at AUBiH, which results in a high level of professional satisfaction, living in Bosnia and Herzegovina offers the US professors the possibility of establishing a balance between their professional and private lives, too. “Our daughter is three years old and is attending a local kindergarten. For comparison purposes only, it costs us only one quarter of what we used to pay in the States. Here, we can afford an easier life, a luxurious apartment, travels and social life in general, while at the same time saving up to one half of our income – all of it owing to my work at AUBiH“, says Dr John Calvin Jones, who moved to Bosnia and Herzegovina together with his family, adding that he now holds this country his home (please follow the link: Working in BiH).

We strongly encourage applications by experienced professors, holders of doctoral degrees in the fields studied at our colleges, with outstanding results in the field of research, and a significant number of scientific papers and articles published.
Our new job openings are available at our colleges in the historic capital city of Sarajevo, Tuzla, and Banja Luka.
Several of the many advantages and benefits on AUBiH offer include the following:

  • reasonable pay and exceptionally low cost of living;
  • relocation expenses paid and airport pickup;
  • apartment finder service provided by University staff
  • vibrant city campus locations
  • English only curriculum and small class size
