The College of International Finance and Banking

The College of International Finance and Banking (CIFB) at AUBiH is a unique institution of higher learning in Bosnia and Herzegovina where professionals specialize in different fields of banking, finance, insurance and risk management.

The College of International Finance and Banking prepares students to function in a practical professional environment. The curriculum is designed to teach you to think critically, sort through complexities, exercise judgment, communicate effectively and adapt to change – qualities considered essential in today’s competitive marketplace.

The College offers an innovative pedagogical model integrating classroom learning and hands-on experience that trains students to analyze, reflect and take well reasoned decisions. AUBiH professors are dedicated to a teaching style which fosters intellectual reflection and personal initiative while ensuring that students receive the individual attention needed to fully develop their talents and prepare for positions of leadership within their community.

The degree programs offered by CIFB are flexible enough to allow students to pursue individual career objectives. As a student, you will work with an academic advisor to plan a curriculum that reflects your individual interests and objectives.

Department of Finance

The coursework in the Department of Finance covers financial organizations, operations and reviews the global economic challenges related to financial management in companies, financial institutions and civil service. The program develops skills to help students deal with practical issues. Graduates with a degree in Finance generally start their professional careers in finance departments in investment banks and management consulting companies, brokerage firms, insurance companies and real estate agencies, as well as international finance institutions and corporations.

Department of Banking

AUBIH provides a comprehensive program in general banking and management which is specially designed to meet the needs of the banking industry. The curriculum provides a broad knowledge and understanding of banking functions and develops skills necessary for effective leadership and management within the industry. The curriculum reflects modern trends in the domain of finance, marketing, and management.

Department of Insurance and Risk Management

The Department of Insurance and Risk Management at AUBiH is the first of its kind in Eastern and Central Europe. The program of study is designed to train actuaries in all the standard practices of the field while providing additional understanding of the global business environment. To this end, the curriculum approaches the field from four different perspectives: as a market, as a technique of risk management, as a business activity and as an instrument of public policy. Standard actuarial coursework, such as mathematics, statistics, computer technology, and operations research, is complemented with traditional business courses in economic theory, financial strategies, corporate risk management and public policy. This combination of training as an actuary with a general business theory and policy perspective, means you will be prepared to operate in the rapidly changing legal, regulative, organizational and economic environment in the global workplace.

Co-op Work Experience

As part of the general mission of AUBiH, CILD strives to offer a quality, innovative education which provides students with positive proactive experiences. To this end, an important component of the degree program is the successful completion of a semester long co-op (work placement). The placement depends on professional interests and may include work in a selected firm, bank, or international organization.

What you can do with a degree in International Finance and Banking from AUBiH:

The International Finance and Banking degree is interdisciplinary. It prepares students for careers with financial institutions with foreign operations or government agencies involved in international trade and finance. Graduates of this program have accepted positions with international banks, multinational corporations and international stock and bond brokerage firms.

Beginning salaries for graduates in International Banking and Finance:
• $25,000-40,000 plus benefits.

Program Cost: €5.500 per academic school year.

Length of Undergraduate Degree Program: Eight academic semesters; four years.
