College of Information Technology and Digital Economy

Information Technology

The extensive use of computers and digital technology has transformed life in the 21st century. Computing and telecommunications now play a critical role in science, medicine, engineering and commerce and is a key function in the competitive position of every organization. A student graduating from the College of Information Technology and Digital Economy (CITDE) at AUBiH will be equipped with the skills necessary to work effectively in today’s marketplace where technology changes at a rapid pace and companies must continually reinvent themselves.

While the main focus of the degree programs in CITDE are on computers and technology, they differ from a computer science degree in that students are expected to also study financial strategies, management and economic theory. Since the field of information technology must operate in varied types of business applications, it is crucial that a student of information technology be well-versed in the business and communication applications of computing.

As an Information Technology major, you will gain experience with computer hardware, networking, database management, web development, security implementation and IT applications within specific industries. You will learn to analyze and process data to exploit opportunities and solve computer-related problems facing an organization.

Widespread global access to computers and the internet has fueled the rapid growth of the digital economy. The CITDE curriculum has been adapted to give special emphasis to e-commerce and related industry security issues. This preparation combined with additional training in management and communication skills and real-world work experience helps ensure that AUBiH graduates in Information Technology are prepared to enter the workforce upon graduation.
