The American University of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AUBiH) is a private American-style university located in the heart of the emerging economies of the Balkans in southeastern Europe. Founded in 2006 with 20 students, AUBiH now enrolls more than 380 on its three campuses (Tuzla, Sarajevo and Banja Luka) where the University advances the ideals of an American liberal arts education while encouraging the free exchange of ideas and promoting open interaction within its diverse student body.
Students who choose to pursue a AUBiH education are dynamic, highly intelligent and motivated. They understand that critical thinking and creative problem solving in an atmosphere of diversity and tolerance are essential skills of professionals in contemporary society.
The distinguished faculty of AUBiH has been recruited from the United States and Europe and has been educated in the finest American universities. Driven by a desire to help the region emerge from the past with a strong foundation for the future, AUBiH professors are dedicated to a teaching style which fosters intellectual reflection and personal initiative. Students receive the individual attention needed to fully develop their talents and prepare for positions of leadership within their community and the greater region. Classes are small (20-25) and interactive. The language of instruction is English.
Academic Calendar
AUBiH operates on the semester system within the European academic calendar. The fall semester begins in early October and ends in mid January. The spring semester begins in early February and ends in late May. An intensive summer session in Balkan Studies runs from early June to late July.
