President's Letter
Dear,
American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AUBiH) is based on the offer of multidisciplinary scientific and educational programs, based on the American system of education, which prepares graduates for leading positions in the labor market. The idea is that, on the basis of such academic programs, graduates become catalysts in the political, social and economic development of the region, and thus actively participate in preparing Bosnia and Herzegovina for successful integration into the European Union.
Education of students is applying contemporary standards in the grading system, organization studies, didactic methods, and curricula based on best practices and traditions of American universities, and applying all the principles of the Bologna process initiated by European reform of higher education, which is verified through the realization of dual diploma.
For the educational needs of students and the research development of AUBiH, we hired the professors with education and experience gained at prestigious American universities, who teach in English, and at the same time encourage critical thinking and creative approach to solving problems at the students, using the Harvard "case-study" method of learning, based on the analysis of practices.
In this regard, AUBiH promotes interaction within its student body, combining classical lectures (regular classes) with distance learning, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. During the study, students build on their knowledge gained in class through the professional internship in the reputable companies, which also allows them to acquire practical knowledge in the subject matters that they are studying.
Through this system of education, we educate a new cadre of different profiles that speak English fluently, and who, on the basis of studying by the curriculum conceived at comparative application of best practices of American and European systems of education, contribute to faster and more efficient Integration of BiH into the European Union.
AUBiH consistently applies the principles of higher education based on academic freedoms, academic self-government and autonomy, unity of teaching and research, or the artistic work. It is open to the public, citizens and local community, it promotes; the respect of European liberal and democratic values and aligning them with the European system of higher education; respect for human rights and civil liberties, including the prohibition of all forms of discrimination, interaction with the community and the obligation of higher education institutions to develop social responsibility of students and other academics; student s' participation in governance and decision-making, particularly regarding issues of importance to the quality of teaching; equality with other institutions, no matter who their founder was; ensuring quality and efficiency of studies and the concept of lifelong learning.
